The Burial of the Rats and Other Horror Tales

The Burial of the Rats and Other Horror Tales

Our review

A book that surprised us, because most readers don't know Bram Stoker beyond his masterpiece. These are truly interesting stories, very pleasant to read and with a terrifying atmosphere that we love.

If you are tired of Dracula, this anthology of stories can be a good solution to learn more about the author. Some of these stories predate his famous vampire and are truly fascinating. Who doesn't like a good story about rats?

"The Burial of the Rats", one of the longest, is a highly recommended story for those who like nightmare tales.

Synopsis

This book includes 4 stories by Bram Stoker:

  • The Burial of the Rats

  • The Watter's Mouth

  • The Crooken Sands

  • The Secret of the Growing Gold

All four have a terrifying and sinister, yet quite realistic, atmosphere. They are stories with little in common, except for the author's unmistakable pen.

About the Author

Bram Stoker (Dublin, 1847 - London, 1912) graduated in Mathematics and Science and worked as a civil servant and theater critic. During that time he also wrote horror stories, greatly influenced by the ghost stories his mother told him. It wasn't until he was 50 that he published his most famous work: Dracula, a vampire who has remained in the collective imagination.
