Carrie (50th Anniversary)

Carrie (50th Anniversary)

Our review

Carrie was one of the first Stephen King novels we read, and it impacted us so much that we immediately wanted to explore more of his work. Although he has many outstanding books, this story has a special feel. As one of his earliest publications, it has a unique freshness: King was still exploring his style, without the usual quirks he developed later on.

If you're new to the author or intimidated by the sheer volume of his bibliography, this novel is an excellent gateway. It's his first horror novel, a groundbreaking work that focuses on the painful reality of a teenage girl, trapped between school bullying and the oppression of her ultraconservative mother. It's brief, intense, and grips you from the first page, with a mix of telepathy and violence that leaves a lasting impression.

Moreover, this special 50th-anniversary hardcover edition is a true gem, and includes a valuable foreword by Margaret Atwood.
