This is, without a doubt, one of the most magical books ever. It's tangible proof that J.R.R. Tolkien, before he was the architect of Middle-earth, was a wonderful father who, every December, truly became Father Christmas for his children.
This book collects all those letters, but this Deluxe Edition is a treasure in itself. Forget other versions: this is the best. It's a book that looks like it came straight from the North Pole factory: it comes in an illustrated protective slipcase, the binding is spectacular with silver embossing, and most importantly, it includes all the original illustrations and envelopes in color, some of them for the first time.
Seeing the incredible lettering he invented, the Polar Bear's drawings, and the North Pole stamps is an absolute delight. It's the perfect heirloom, to read aloud every Christmas and never cease to admire.

Every year in December, J.R.R. Tolkien’s children received letters from Father Christmas. They came in dusty envelopes, with North Pole stamps, and in them Father Christmas recounted (and drew) his adventures, his troubles with the Polar Bear, battles with goblins, and life in his cliff-top home.
This special edition of the book collects all the extraordinary drawings and letters, from the first note to his eldest son in 1920 to the last moving correspondence with his daughter in 1943, in one wonderful edition.

About the Author
John Ronald Reuel Tolkien (1892-1973) was a British writer, poet, philologist, and university professor, known worldwide as the author of the classic fantasy works The Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings. In addition to creating one of the richest literary universes in history (Middle-earth), he was a devoted father who created these letters for his children, demonstrating boundless imagination and affection.
