Blackwater Coffer (Complete Novel)

Our review

If you haven't yet traveled to the town of Perdido, now is always a good time to do so. Blackwater is a fascinating mix: imagine a family drama full of envy, secrets, and power (in the style of the great Southern matriarchs of the United States), but complemented with suspense and subtle supernatural horror.

The publisher Blackie Books has created a slipcase, with golden details and macabre motifs, designed specifically to house the novel's six installments. We especially recommend it as a gift.

This literary phenomenon hooks you from the first page, and it's impossible to read just one. If you're looking for a story that will captivate you for months and serve as the perfect complement to other readings, this is the one you're looking for.

Synopsis

In 1919, the dark waters of the Blackwater River flood the town of Perdido, Alabama. As if emerging from the flood itself, Elinor Dammert appears, a mysterious young woman with an indecipherable past and even darker intentions. Elinor soon infiltrates the powerful Caskey clan, confronting the implacable matriarch Mary-Love.

About the Author

Michael McDowell (1950-1999) was an acclaimed American writer and one of the great masters of Southern horror. If his name sounds familiar, it's because, in addition to being a novelist, he was a brilliant Hollywood screenwriter. He worked closely with Tim Burton and is the creator of iconic stories such as Beetlejuice and The Nightmare Before Christmas. Stephen King himself described him as "the finest writer of original paperbacks in America."
