Animal Farm

Animal Farm

Our review

We thoroughly enjoyed this book because it is short but very intense. The author doesn't let you breathe for a second, and as it approaches the end, the tension on the farm is palpable. You can read it in an afternoon, and it's a classic that everyone should have in their personal library.

Despite being a farm of thinking animals, it is not a story for children. It is one of the most famous dystopian and satirical novels in literature. George Orwell uses something as simple as animals to make a political critique of Soviet communism and totalitarian regimes.

If you like dystopias and social criticism, you will love this book. You can't miss it!

Synopsis

A farm of animals wants to take control, expelling the humans who exploit them. The idea starts as something fair, but the struggle for power will turn the revolution, conceived by the pig Old Major, into a new oppressive regime. It doesn't matter if the fight is just; any form of power can lead to corruption.

About the Author

George Orwell (whose real name was Eric Arthur Blair) was born in British India in 1903 and died in London in 1950. His fight against totalitarianism was a constant in his life, even participating in the Spanish Civil War. Although he wrote essays and articles, he has gone down in literary history for his two dystopian novellas with strong political critiques: Animal Farm (1945) and Nineteen Eighty-Four (1949).
