The Great Gatsby (original cover design)

The Great Gatsby (original cover design)

Our review

A fascinating book that reflects Fitzgerald's many facets: love, ambition, appearances, money... All wrapped up in a story that seems to echo his own life, marked by success and downfall. In this novel, Fitzgerald reveals the conflict between his purest vocation and the seduction of status and wealth.

Every weekend, a majestic mansion fills with dazzling parties to which no one has been invited. Among the attendees, one man stands out for his silence: Gatsby. His life is surrounded by rumors, but few know the truth about this enigmatic figure.

The Great Gatsby is an essential work, a modern cautionary tale full of symbolism and social criticism. Furthermore, this hardcover edition with the original cover design is one of the best choices.

About the Author

F. Scott Fitzgerald (Minnesota, 1896 - Hollywood, 1940) was encouraged from a young age to become a writer. After two unpublished novels, he achieved success and his financial problems disappeared. His most famous work is The Great Gatsby, a novel that established him as one of the great storytellers of the 20th century, portraying like no one else the Jazz Age and the disillusionment of the "American dream". He died prematurely at the age of 44 from a heart attack.
