Dune Messiah (Dune Saga #2) (Ages 14+)

Dune Messiah (Dune Saga #2) (Ages 14+)

Our review

If after reading the first book Dune you were left with the feeling that Paul Atreides was the perfect hero, prepare for Frank Herbert to blow your mind. In this second installment, the author places us twelve years after his ascent to the throne. We now enter a political and psychological thriller of suffocating intensity, as well as philosophical.

It is fascinating to see how Herbert explores the terrible consequences of having "a charismatic leader" and how the gift of prescience (seeing the future) becomes a gilded cage for Paul. It is essential reading to understand the true thesis of the saga: demystification.

However, the "Jihad" launched in his name has escaped his control, claiming billions of lives. As a conspiracy formed by the Bene Tleilax, the Spacing Guild, and his own Bene Gesserit order closes in on him, Paul must face the ultimate dilemma: can an emperor who sees the future avoid his own tragic destiny?
