There is something terribly magnetic about Lovecraft's stories of hidden knowledge. The Haunter of the Dark is, for us, the quintessence of that idea: an artist who, obsessed with a mystery, pulls on a thread until he unleashes a nightmare. It is the last great story written by the master of Providence, and its twilight atmosphere is evident.
From his window, a writer becomes obsessed with an abandoned church. Locals whisper legends about an ancient evil that dwells within, a being that fears the light. Driven by curiosity, he decides to venture into its ruins. This classic takes on a new and terrifying life thanks to the spectacular illustrations by Tomás Hijo.
What we like most is that it is a story about us, the "oddballs": those who cannot help but peer into the abyss. And this deluxe edition is a visual incantation that perfectly invokes that darkness.

Synopsis
Robert Blake, a writer of strange fiction, moves to Providence and becomes obsessed with a sinister abandoned church. Ignoring local warnings, he explores the place and finds an ancient artifact: the Shining Trapezohedron. Interacting with it, he awakens a malevolent entity that can only move in darkness. When a great storm causes a city-wide blackout, Blake is left alone and at the mercy of the horror he himself has unleashed.
