The danger of being sane

The danger of being sane

Our review

This non-fiction book has been of great help to us in understanding many things. All writers, in one way or another, have some complex or problem, and with this book, one can discover that they are not alone. At the same time, one can feel the love for books, for thought, and for the creation of stories.

The writer's madness is irremediable, as is the reader's. Those who write have a special sensibility to perceive reality, and it is that sensibility that allows them to create. Psychology sheds some light on the hypersensitivity of artists, and this book explores that connection.

We recommend this book to all those who, in some way, write or are in contact with art. Also to readers. If you are feeling down, this is your book: Rosa Montero's words will lighten the pain.

Book details

Synopsis

In this essay, Rosa Montero tells us what her life as a writer is like. We realize that her hypersensitivity has not always served her well and that the secret to healing, in her case, is writing. While telling us about her personal adventures, she shows us how other artists, thanks to writing, have survived. As a psychologist, she gives us relevant information about the minds of creators, using studies and experiences. As a culmination, the book includes a short interview with Doris Lessing.
