Synopsis

In the tranquil Shire, the hobbit Frodo Baggins inherits a seemingly harmless ring from his uncle Bilbo. Soon, the wizard Gandalf reveals the terrible truth: it is the One Ring, an instrument of absolute power forged by the Dark Lord, Sauron, who now seeks it to plunge all of Middle-earth into darkness.

Thus begins the epic journey of Frodo and the Fellowship of the Ring, a desperate trek through forests, mountains, and forgotten kingdoms to reach Mount Doom, the only place where the Ring can be destroyed. It is the definitive story of the struggle between good and evil, friendship and sacrifice.

About the author

J.R.R. Tolkien (South Africa, 1892 - England, 1973) was a British professor, philologist, and writer, considered the father of modern epic fantasy. His work was not limited to writing; he created an entire universe with its own languages and stories: Middle-earth. Works such as The Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings have defined the genre.

What many do not know is that Tolkien was also a notable artist. This special edition celebrates that facet, including for the first time more than 30 illustrations, maps, and sketches drawn by the author himself, allowing us to see Middle-earth as he conceived it in his mind.
