Elevation

Elevation

Our review

A moving book, very different from what we are used to from the master Stephen. It shows that he is capable of delivering stories far removed from horror and still be an incredible writer. Although it is not a drama, it brings a lump to your throat as you read it.

If you've never read Stephen King for fear of his terrifying novels, Elevation could be the perfect opportunity. It is a tribute to Richard Matheson, the author of The Incredible Shrinking Man. A suspenseful, original, and easy-to-read book that sends a clear message: let's love each other more and forget our individualism.

We believe it is one of the author's essential works, especially if you don't usually choose him because his novels scare you. It is a beautiful tribute that his friend will surely be very proud of wherever he is. A light body turned into a balloon, rising to the stars.

Synopsis

The plot is very simple: Scott Carey, the protagonist, loses weight uncontrollably. There's no way to stop it, although Bob Ellis, a retired doctor and friend of Scott's, will try to help him. Along the way, he will meet people who will change his life or, at least, make his existence more bearable, like his cat Bill E.

About the Author

Stephen King (Portland, 1947) is one of the most popular writers in the world. Although it took him years of hard work and poverty, the publication of Carrie in 1974 catapulted him to fame. This was followed by works that would become classics of the genre, such as The Shining, It, and Misery. At over 70 years old, he continues to publish at a frenetic pace.
