Tonight, In This World (Portable Poetry)

Our review

Reading Pizarnik is like being punched in the gut and having your insides churned. You feel the pain in your chest, it transcends time, and you want to return to her, to embrace her, to comfort her. There is nothing more intimate than feeling her sadness. Her poetry is visceral, heartbreaking, and sad.

This book is an opportunity to read her anywhere. It is small in size, but holds all the power of the words of one of the saddest poets. You identify with her suffering because it appeals to man's most primitive feelings. She reflects human torment like no other.

Synopsis

A small poetry collection featuring a brief selection of her best poems, compiled by Argentinian poet Ana Becciú. Although seemingly brief, these are intense words that require slow reading. Let the words sink in; once they settle, you can continue reading.

About the Author

Alejandra Pizarnik (Buenos Aires, 1936-1972) studied Philosophy and Literature. Her life was marked by deep depression and anxiety that led to several suicide attempts and admission to a psychiatric center. In 1972, at only 36 years old, she was found dead from an overdose. Her poems are a faithful reflection of the illness she suffered and which drowned her soul.
