Feral (Illustrated)

Our Review

Imagine Sherlock Holmes abandoning pure logic to confront visceral horror in the streets of Whitechapel. That's just one of the stops in Feral, Jorge López Landó's brutal and addictive anthology. For us, it's a book that proves that horror and detective fiction were born to twist together.

This collection of stories, some short and some longer, is a journey through suspense, terror, and the sinister, where the darkness is not always supernatural, but often lurks in human relationships. With black and white illustrations that enhance the atmosphere, each story captivates you with its own voice.

As is typical of authors from Huargo publishing house, it has a powerful and uncompromising Mexican tone. Once you get used to it, it's very enjoyable. It's a read for dark palates.

Synopsis

Feral is an anthology of stories that move between horror, suspense, and detective fiction. The stories explore the deepest fears, from monsters hiding in the dark to the most real cruelty.

The last and longest story, which gives the book its title, reimagines Whitechapel London, where a figure inspired by Sherlock Holmes must use his wits to solve a terrible murder.

About the Author

Jorge López Landó is a Mexican writer who describes himself as a "writer of short stories and poems, a frustrated novelist." He writes for pure fun, but reads out of conviction. He prefers rainy weekends to sunny ones, though he wouldn't trade the beach for anything. His personal literary pantheon includes Allen Ginsberg, Banana Yoshimoto, Arthur Conan Doyle, and Timothy Zahn. In addition to being a writer, he is a co-founder of Huargo publishing house.
