The amazing bomb

The amazing bomb

Our Review

When a poet like Pedro Salinas writes a novel about a bomb, the result cannot be ordinary. La bomba increíble is one of the strangest and most beautiful fables we have ever read. In a world obsessed with destruction, Salinas imagines a weapon that, instead of killing, forces humanity to love.

What if the ultimate weapon didn't bring death, but absolute peace? This brilliant satire turns dystopias on their head. It is a story about the power of poetry and love to disarm hatred, a literary gem that demonstrates that the most powerful weapons are not always those that destroy.

We love it because it is a profoundly optimistic and pacifist work, a rarity written by one of the greats of the Generation of '27 that reconciles you with hope.

Synopsis

In a future world ravaged by perpetual war, a group of scientists creates "the incredible bomb," a weapon of unprecedented power. Governments and armies prepare for total annihilation. However, when the bomb is detonated, its effect is completely unexpected: instead of destruction, it releases a force that eradicates hatred from human hearts, forcing enemies to embrace each other and remember their shared humanity.

About the author

Pedro Salinas (Madrid, 1891 - Boston, 1951) was a Spanish poet, essayist, and literary critic, considered one of the key figures of the Generation of '27. He is famous for his love poetry, especially for his trilogy La voz a ti debida. After the outbreak of the Spanish Civil War, he went into exile in the United States, where he worked as a university professor. La bomba increíble is his only novel, written during his exile and a reflection of his deep pacifist convictions in an era marked by war.
