DEBOLSILLO

The Leaf Storm

The Leaf Storm

Our review

This book is small but captivating. It helped us a lot to understand Gabo's writing style, who had a knack for intermingling his characters' voices, changing narrators and points of view to enrich the text. The plot is simple and yet so well told that it stays with you forever. That child, embraced by the sticky heat of the Caribbean, faces death for the first time. What did you think when you saw a corpse for the first time?

If you want to know where Macondo was born, the famous place in "One Hundred Years of Solitude", you have to read "Leaf Storm". It is Gabriel García Márquez's first published book, a small work that delves into the feelings of a child, the local people and their traditions.

For us, it is the best book to start reading Gabo with, as it helps you to better understand his narrative before tackling other longer works.
