The Thief's Legend (16+)

The Thief's Legend (16+)

Our review

Although his latest trilogies are not, from our point of view, the best he has written, Juan Gómez-Jurado seems to us to be a great Spanish writer. The Legend of the Thief is one of his best novels and we never tire of recommending it. It is a story where you can see that there have been years of work, study and training, with a multifaceted protagonist.

From the Casa Drojan bookstore, we consider this work superior to his famous Red Queen. If his saga has not convinced you or you want to read something different from the author, this book will not disappoint you. It is a historical novel that reveals the disaster of the plague and the difficult survival in 16th century Seville, where the enthusiastic Sancho is willing to cling to life.

It is a novel that is nothing like his later crime novels.

Synopsis

The novel is set in Seville at the end of the 16th century. A boy named Sancho, poor and a survivor of one of the hardest diseases that has devastated the population, has to face the challenge of surviving in a classist and violent world. Throughout the plot, he will face many challenges and the reader will be able to delve into the history of Andalusia.

About the Author

Juan Gómez-Jurado (Madrid, 1977) dedicated himself to journalism during his early years. He began publishing novels in 2006. Although he did not have the expected success at first, The Legend of the Thief was a title that would bring him renown. However, his worldwide fame as a thriller writer came with the Red Queen trilogy and later with Todo Arde, two series that, although they have reached thousands of homes, also have their detractors.
