La noche/ La Nuit (Bilingual Edition) (Illustrated)

Our review

Sometimes we think that a long novel is more intense than a short story, but Maupassant shows us that this is not true. Terror lies in the small things, in the night, in the darkness. Almost like a poem, "La noche" is best enjoyed by reading slowly and appreciating every word.

This is one of Guy de Maupassant's darkest and most disturbing stories, a masterful descent into madness and urban solitude. This edition also comes as a collector's item:

  • In a carefully designed bilingual format (Spanish-French) that allows readers to savor the author's original prose.

  • And enriched with illustrations that capture the suffocating and dreamlike atmosphere of a Paris that fades into the shadows.

A small gem within everyone's reach!

Synopsis

What happens when the city you love, vibrant and luminous Paris, begins to fade before your eyes? A man, a lover of the night and its mysteries, goes for his usual walk along the boulevard. But this night is not like the others.

About the Author

Guy de Maupassant (1850-1893) is one of the greatest masters of the short story in universal literature and a key figure in French naturalism. A protégé of Gustave Flaubert, his style is characterized by its precision, its realism, and a profoundly pessimistic view of society. Although famous for his realistic short stories, Maupassant was also a master of the fantastic and horror tale. "La noche," like "The Horla," reflects his own obsessions and his struggle against the mental disorders that tormented him in the last years of his life, exploring with terrifying lucidity themes such as madness, paranoia, and the disintegration of the self.
