Synopsis

La pequeña pasión is a first-person account by Leonisa, who, like a contemporary Alice, will endure a long fall through the pages in the company of nightmares, monsters, ghosts, and other sinister beings until she reaches the bottom of a dark well, where she will have to confront the most recondite parts of herself.

In this novel of everyday, contemporary horror, the protagonist faces the crumbling of her own reality. Of all Pilar Pedraza's novels, La pequeña pasión presents the greatest challenge for the reader due to its richness of nuances, symbols, cultural references, and allegories. Cats, insects, the living dead, specters, tortures, perversions, and emanations of the soul form part of the rich backdrop of this penetrating descent of the protagonist, Leonisa, into the hells of her own being.
