The Legacy of the Bones (Baztan Trilogy 2)

The Legacy of the Bones (Baztan Trilogy 2)

Our review

If you thought you'd seen it all in Baztan, you were very wrong. Legado en los huesos (Legacy of the Bones) is that perfect sequel that not only maintains the standard, but dares to be darker, more intimate, and more terrifying. This is where Dolores Redondo shows us that the real monster, sometimes, isn't from legends, but the one hidden in one's own family tree. We chose it because it's the heart of the trilogy, a masterful piece that leaves you breathless and forces you, desperately, to run for the third book.

Legado en los huesos (Legacy of the Bones) is the second thrilling installment of the Baztán Trilogy, in which Dolores Redondo raises the stakes and immerses Inspector Amaia Salazar in a much more personal investigation. The evil lurking in the Navarrese valley is revealed to have deeper roots, intertwined with the protagonist's own family history in a thriller that masterfully combines police procedural with ancestral horror and family drama.

Synopsis

A year after solving the crimes that terrorized the valley, Inspector Amaia Salazar, now pregnant, attends the trial against the stepfather of one of the murdered young women. The accused commits suicide in the courthouse restrooms, leaving an enigmatic message addressed to Amaia with the word "Tarttalo." This event uncovers a new and dark plot. Amaia is drawn into an investigation that connects a series of strange suicides with an ancient legend about a mythological ogre. The investigation forces her to delve into the valley's oldest crimes and, inevitably, into the most painful secrets of her own family.
