The cloisters

The cloisters

Our review

If you like mystery novels with a touch of magic, you'll love "The Cloisters". It takes us to the MET in New York to show us a hidden and peculiar place called The Cloisters, where its director is working on the history of tarot.

It's an entertaining book that keeps you in suspense until the last page. Ideal if you want a light read to rekindle your reading flame. What we liked most was the setting, as the author is an Art History professor in California.

Synopsis

Ann Stilwell, a young woman from a small town, arrives in New York to spend the summer working at The Cloisters, a Gothic and labyrinthine museum dedicated to medieval art. There, she is drawn into a closed circle of academics investigating the hidden origins of tarot in the Renaissance.

Soon, academic ambition, arcane secrets, and dangerous friendships plunge her into a spiral where an ancient deck of cards could have the power to predict—or change—the future.
