I Died for Beauty (Pocket Poetry)

I Died for Beauty (Pocket Poetry)

Our review

I’m not exaggerating when I say this poet is one of our favorites. Reading Emily Dickinson is like peering into a closed room to hear a whisper that contains the entire universe. She doesn't need grand epic poems; in a few lines, she is capable of condensing life, death, love, and eternity. This small anthology of poems is the perfect gateway to her world.

I Died for Beauty is a portable poetry book that gathers some of the author’s most delicate and spiritual poems. It is a simple edition, ideal for experiencing the intensity of one of the most unique voices in universal literature.

A book to carry in your pocket and read in sips, letting each verse breathe and remind us that, sometimes, the profound is found in the brief.

Synopsis

"’Hope’ is the thing with feathers – / That perches in the soul – / And sings the tune without the words – / And never stops – at all –" With such delicacy, Emily Dickinson explores the great mysteries of existence. This brief but intense selection of poems is a journey through her recurring themes: beauty, death, nature, and God. Each poem is a small window into the inner universe of one of poetry's most brilliant minds.

About the Author

Emily Dickinson (Amherst, 1830-1886) is one of the most important poets in American literature. She led a very reclusive life and published only a handful of poems during her lifetime, which were altered by editors to adapt them to the conventions of the time. Her true and vast body of work—around 2,000 poems—was discovered by her sister Lavinia after her death. Her unique style, groundbreaking syntax, and profound exploration of the human soul posthumously made her an immortal figure.
