The Ones Who Walk Away from Omelas (Illustrated) (+14 years)

Our review

The short story The Ones Who Walk Away from Omelas grabs your soul and forces you to ask the most uncomfortable question: what is the price of happiness? For us, it is one of the most important works of science fiction. In just a few pages, Ursula K. Le Guin constructs a parable that will haunt you forever.

Welcome to Omelas, the city of happiness. A radiant utopia where there is no suffering. Its inhabitants are intelligent, cultured, and compassionate. But the prosperity and joy of Omelas depend on a single, terrible secret that all its citizens must know.

We chose it because it is a masterpiece that proves you don't need a thousand pages to change your worldview. This beautiful illustrated edition from Nórdica is the perfect way to experience this unforgettable classic.

🏆Hugo Award for Best Short Story in 1974
