Land of Witches: Tales of fear, death, and other matters (Illustrated)

Our Review

After having read Profanation, we were afraid to delve into this new book. However, not only has it not disappointed us, but it has reaffirmed our opinion that Amparo Montejano is one of the great writers of this country. With her narrative, she transports us to another era, and she does so effortlessly. We love her storytelling style, which could well be made for telling aloud.

It is not a conventional book of short stories. These are stories that transport you to the depths of Galicia, to the superstitions and evils hidden among its mountains. This book has much in common with the dark tales of Emilia Pardo Bazán. If you want to read something that feels authentic to the 19th century, you can't miss Tierra de Meigas!

It also includes illustrations by Tomás Hijo.
