Brave New World (Hardcover Pocket Edition) (Ages 16+)

Our review

If there is one book that seems to be written today, it is undoubtedly this one. Aldous Huxley built an unsettling mirror where our current society is reflected with increasing clarity. Unlike the oppressive boot of 1984, here control comes through pleasure, consumption, and chemical happiness. It's a read that makes you question what price we are willing to pay for stability and comfort.

We really like this hardcover edition from Debolsillo because it's sturdy and holds up to a lot of readings, besides being very affordable.

Synopsis

In an orderly and efficient future, humanity is mass-produced in laboratories, biologically conditioned to belong to a caste and be happy through the consumption of soma. In this world where family, art, and history have been eradicated in favor of social stability, Bernard Marx feels a disconnection that will take him to the limits of civilization: the Savage Reservations.
