Our review

This is a book that every fan of dystopias and science fiction must read. If you are passionate about satire and political criticism, George Orwell is your author. No one else has been able to portray the problems of social control and indoctrination as well as he has. Perhaps that is why it is one of the most censored books in the world.

War is peace. Freedom is slavery. Ignorance is strength.

Welcome to the world of 1984. In this legendary novel, you will follow in the footsteps of Winston Smith in his silent struggle against a totalitarian regime where Big Brother sees everything and the Thought Police monitor every breath. Along with Brave New World and Fahrenheit 451, this work forms the essential "dystopian trinity."

It is a read that will change the way you see the world. A fundamental classic that will captivate you. Do you dare to challenge the Party?

💡 About this edition: This is the Hardcover version by the publisher Debolsillo. It is the perfect option if you are looking for a sturdy and durable binding for your library at a very affordable price.

Synopsis

"Big Brother is watching you" is the motto of a dystopian society where technology penetrates every corner. Citizens have telescreens that monitor their movements and conversations. The protagonist of the novel wants to have his own emotions and thoughts, but this is a crime in a society where you must follow the rules and not show any kind of feeling. Otherwise, he could end up disappearing.

About the Author

George Orwell (1903-1950), whose real name was Eric Arthur Blair, was a British novelist, essayist, and journalist. His profound hatred of imperialism, forged during his time in the Burma police, and his experiences in the Spanish Civil War and World War II, marked his work. He experienced periods of destitution and worked as a teacher and in a second-hand bookstore. These experiences allowed him to write the most famous dystopian novels in literature, such as Animal Farm and 1984, where political satire is fundamental.
