Small Gods

Small Gods

Our review

That Amparo Montejano chose a dialogue from Faust as the introductory text for this novel tells us a lot about this story. "Little Gods" tells us about pacts with the devil, about suffering and fear. About loneliness and deceit. Its terror chills you to the bone like a fine rain that doesn't stop for hours.

Always with an extraordinary pen, Amparo shows us the heart of a girl with bone dysplasia (commonly known as dwarfism). Her genetic anomaly prevents her from leading a normal life, not only because of her size but also because of the people around her. That's why she gets carried away by the deceptions of the Afterlife.

You won't regret reading this great Spanish author! An essential work for lovers of the Weird and the unusual.

⚠️ Exclusive to Spain! Published by the Mexican publisher Huargo.

Synopsis

For Daniela, life is a gray world of shadows and whispers. Her illness, bone dysplasia, is seen by others as an abomination, and the pain of words has pushed her to the limit. In her solitude, she cries out for a way out, a wish cast to an Afterlife she didn't know could respond.

This is the story of what happens when wishes come true, but not as we expect, and the true instinct for survival must face the consequences.

About the author

Amparo Montejano, born in 1975 in Tomelloso (Ciudad Real), is one of the most powerful and personal voices in horror and dark fantasy in Spain. She studied Art and Early Childhood Education, temporarily setting aside her dream of becoming a writer.

However, years later she decided to resume that passion and founded the digital magazine "Círculo de Lovecraft", a reference for horror lovers in Spanish. After participating in various short story anthologies, she debuted solo with Profanación. Antología de cuentos macabros.

Her style, which masterfully blends historical setting, folklore, and superstitions with subtle and poetic terror, is consolidated in important works such as "Tierra de Meigas" and "Dioses pequeños".

For us, she is one of the great writers of this country, whose ability to transport us to other times and make us feel the pulse of life amidst the darkness is simply masterful. Currently, she continues to create both individually and in collaboration, demonstrating that her literary universe continues to expand.
