The Love of the Savages

The Love of the Savages

Our Review

If you knew the day you were going to die, would you change the life you lead? The Love of Savages delves deep into that question through a family drama laden with secrets.

Diana Soledad brings us a forced reunion between two estranged siblings, with the Mississippi and Barcelona as backdrops. But the true crux of the story is Biel's revelation: his wife, Dolly, is dying, and she doesn't know it yet.

It's a novel that exquisitely explores those invisible cages we build around ourselves. A story, with a jazz sound, about the pain of unspoken things, the weight of words that were said, and the difficulty of making decisions when time is running out.

Synopsis

A funeral reunites two siblings estranged by old wounds. Biel returns to the family island with Dolly, his wife, unaware that she is dying. Between the waters of the Mississippi and the memories of Barcelona, seven days will be enough for buried secrets to come to light, while a fire in Manhattan burns as a reflection of their own ruins. In that suspended time, they will discover that the worst cages are those one builds oneself and that perhaps there is still time to choose a different life.
