No One Writes to the Colonel

No One Writes to the Colonel

Our review

A book that everyone who loves or hates One Hundred Years of Solitude should read. We believe it shows the author's true essence. The best perfumes come in small bottles: thus, its 98 pages are pure joy. We fell in love with this book from its first words and married it with the last.

No One Writes to the Colonel is a living portrait of thousands of lives that struggle every day. It is a short novel, but with an enormous social, political, and economic background. Perhaps, in the author's own words, it is his most intimate novel, the one that comes closest to the reality of his past. The ending is as perfect as the work itself.

It is simply perfect. It is Gabriel García Márquez.

Synopsis

The simplest plot is usually the best. This book only tells the story of a man who waits. He waits for a letter that could save his life, but it never arrives. A promise that vanishes like smoke.

About the Author

Gabriel García Márquez (Colombia, 1927 - Mexico, 2014) found in his childhood an influence that would mark his work. Although he studied Law, his true passion was writing and journalism. In his first novel, Leaf Storm, he introduced the mythical town of Macondo. Worldwide recognition came in 1967 with One Hundred Years of Solitude, a key work that led him to receive the Nobel Prize in Literature in 1982.
