Niña Loba

The man who argued alone

The man who argued alone

Our review

Reading this novel has been a real discovery. We were surprised by its narrative style and how entertaining a fantasy book can be. We found not only science fiction, but also humor and room for reflection.

The protagonist, Marco Tancredi, is a young man who argues with himself, but not silently, but out loud, which has earned him the nickname "the crazy one" in his building.

We love Gorka's unbridled imagination, the intelligent use of archetypes, and those surreal scenes full of humor. The best part is that, amidst the laughter, the story also invites us to pause and reflect on what the characters say. A read that does not go unnoticed.

Without a doubt, this novel has earned a place of honor among our favorite books.

Book details

Synopsis

Marco Tancredi, a sign language interpreter and an inveterate melancholic, survives between routine jobs while trying to silence the voices that inhabit him. An absurd murder in a hotel will rip him from his reverie and drag him, against his will, into an adventure on which the fate of Barcelona depends.

Enlisted in a secret society made up of vagrants, frustrated literary critics, murderous tourist guides, and even a Caribbean Socrates, Marco must face something very similar to an alien invasion in an exhausted, apathetic Barcelona with no strength left for hope.

At the end of the journey—after having played the reptilian Don Juan, beach volleyball player, and occasional maker of wafers from Cuenca—Marco Tancredi will have learned almost nothing and will leave the world almost the same as he found it, except for the memory of his outlandish adventures and the memory of those who accompanied him.
