The idiot

The idiot

Our review

It's not an easy read, nor is it for all readers. You have to be willing to confront a complex character and a story full of moral conflicts. But if you dare to delve into the book, there will be something that catches you like a spiderweb.

Dostoyevsky's The Idiot is the novel that most closely resembles our famous Don Quixote de la Mancha. A man who is said to suffer from the disease of idiocy, but is the best representative of Christian morality that could exist. Nothing harms him; he is generous and attentive, although this puts him in very compromising situations.

It is a novel that requires calm and reflection, as it does not go unnoticed. Whether the prince is an idiot or not depends on your own interpretation. Are you willing to face Dostoyevsky's Quixote?

Synopsis

Prince Myshkin returns to Russia after a few years in Switzerland recovering from an illness. He knows nothing of his native country and barely knows anyone, but little by little everyone will be talking about him. Some define him as "the idiot," others as a lucky millionaire, and a few as an intelligent and good-hearted man. What is clear is that conflicts of all kinds constantly arise around him.
