Steppenwolf

Steppenwolf

Our review

One of the most interesting things about this book is that it invites you to reflect without it becoming a tormenting experience. Including philosophical thought in a novel is a good way to reach readers eager for knowledge, but who do not want to resort to dense classical philosophy books.

Published in 1927, this masterpiece by Hermann Hesse explores the complex duality between spirit and instinct, the individual and society. It is a profound reflection on loneliness, the search for happiness, the confrontation with one's own identity, and the artist's maladaptation in a materialistic world.

If you like to think and enjoy books that don't leave you indifferent, Steppenwolf is the book you've been looking for.

Synopsis

Harry Haller is a solitary and misanthropic intellectual who feels torn between his human nature and his instinct, which he calls the "Steppenwolf." Alienated from the bourgeois world, he desperately seeks meaning in his existence. A chance encounter with the enigmatic Magic Theater plunges him into a surreal journey that will confront him with his true self and the dilemmas of his soul.
