DEBOLSILLO

Fahrenheit 451 (Commemorative Edition) (Ages 14+)

Fahrenheit 451 (Commemorative Edition) (Ages 14+)

Our review

We consider it an essential book for every discerning reader. It's one of those science fiction stories that we've reread quite a few times and always find something new in it. It's very easy to read and never goes out of style.

Although Ray Bradbury wrote it 70 years ago, it seems to speak to us about the reality of today's society. It presents a dystopian society where giant screens occupy the walls of homes, people live obsessed with immediacy, and books are forbidden because they "make people think and that saddens them."

Montag, a fireman who burns books, will be the one to awaken and realize what kind of society he is living in.

📖Why do we recommend this particular edition? Because it's the perfect combination: it has a hardcover (ideal for withstanding the wear and tear in a backpack or purse) but maintains the compact size and price of a paperback edition. It's durable, visually striking with its "danger" yellow, and very comfortable to read.

An experience that will change your way of seeing the world (and will make you want to hug your books a little tighter).

Synopsis

Montag is a fireman. The firemen in this society don't put out fires, they start them. Every night they wait for a call to go to a fellow citizen's house and burn their books. It is forbidden to own them, as they make people think too much and not be happy. The protagonist will soon realize that the society he lives in is not as idyllic as he has been led to believe, thanks to a young woman named Clarisse, who will awaken his curiosity.

About the Author

Ray Bradbury (Illinois, 1920 - California, 2012) was a self-proclaimed autodidact. He left school after high school to sit down and write and read.
