The House of the Spirits

The House of the Spirits

Our Review

This book was on our shelves for years. We had a hard time making up our minds, because we thought it was going to be a dense book with a heavy political load. But it wasn't like that at all. It's a very entertaining novel, which grabs you immediately. Although it has an important social background, the integration of that fantastic touch of ghosts and clairvoyance makes it even more enjoyable.

The House of the Spirits is a magical realism novel that tells the story of the Trueba family. Its pages immerse you in 20th century Latin America, a time of change but also of corruption and exploitation. The magical touch is provided by Clara, a clairvoyant woman who will see the family's future.

A novel that surprises with its freshness and passion. It's worth giving it a chance.
