Frankenstein's Mother (Episodes of an Interminable War 5)

Frankenstein's Mother (Episodes of an Interminable War 5)

Our Review

Although it seems like a romance novel, it is much more than that. It is the composition of a perfect painting where very different pasts converge but with one thing in common: the suffering and pain of a Spain bleeding from all sides.

Almudena Grandes takes us to Spain in the 1950s. The Ciempozuelos asylum will be the key setting for this story, where a paranoid but very intelligent murderer causes the protagonist to become a psychiatrist.

It is a love story in difficult times, full of suspense, secrets, and nostalgia. The fifth novel in her collection "Episodes of an Interminable War," which portrays the post-war period with the masterful skill of Benito Pérez Galdós.
