The Powers of Darkness. The Lost Version of Dracula.

The Powers of Darkness. The Lost Version of Dracula.

Our review

As passionate readers of vampire books, we found this work to be a true discovery. One of the things we like most is that it includes an extensive and very well-explained introduction. In addition, we love that it has images, annotations on the same page (a very practical detail), and, of course, the text of this version of Dracula, which was titled The Powers of Darkness in 1900.

If you are a passionate reader of Dracula, this will interest you. For the first time, the Icelandic version can be read in Spanish, which hides new secrets. It is not a simple translation; it includes new characters and sheds light on aspects that are not discussed in the English version.

This annotated edition, with its detailed study and included images, makes it a must-have for vampire lovers. We assure you that you will not regret this purchase.

Synopsis

In 1900, Icelandic publisher Valimar Ásmundsson translated Dracula. Years later, researcher Hans Corneel de Roos discovered that the Icelandic version was not the same as the English one. Why did Bram Stoker include a unique preface? Why are there new characters and a reduced text? This book attempts to answer these questions and includes, for the first time, the Spanish translation of this mysterious Icelandic version.

About the Author

Bram Stoker (Dublin, 1847 - London, 1912) studied Mathematics and Science, but his passion for literature led him to become a theater critic. Inspired by the ghost stories his mother told him, he began writing short stories. At the age of 50, he published Dracula (1897), his most famous work, which defined the modern image of the vampire and left an indelible mark on popular culture.
