Metal that fell from the sky (ages 13+)

Metal that fell from the sky (ages 13+)

Our review

This young adult novel introduces us to one of Mexico's most beautiful legends. The legend tells that the Popocatépetl (still active) and Iztaccíhuatl (inactive, but the third highest mountain in the country) volcanoes actually represent the love between a princess and a young warrior.

Here, the author, using the legend and the beauty of the landscape, tells us the story of Maya and Alejandro, two teenagers with family problems. Alejandro goes on an excursion to Popocatépetl, where he meets Maya, who is also there with her mother. There, surrounded by nature, they discover their powers and who they really are.

Do you want to fall in love with the legends of Mexico? You're going to love this book. We really liked the author's style and narrative, which leaves you captivated until the end of the novel.

About the author

Miguel Lupián is a Mexican writer specializing in short stories and flash fiction, with a body of work marked by music, ecology, and the fantastic. A veterinarian by training, with a specialization in Ecology and Environmental Management, he left that practice more than a decade ago to dedicate himself to literature, where he explores "eco-fantasy," "forest horror," and folk horror. His books include El libro de agua (2015), Historias de Espiralia (2019), Légamo (2022), and his most recent novel Metal Caído del Cielo (Huargo). His writing integrates musical references, an obsession with nature and the mythology of volcanoes, and he also ventures into children's and young adult literature, where he seeks an authentic voice without condescension toward young readers.
