Our review

This is one of those books you stumble upon by chance. We were so impressed by the meticulous and precise narrative of this small book that we have recommended it for years, and today we are proud to have it in our bookstore.

It is a tiny work, only 62 pages long, that demonstrates the author's mastery in intensely recounting a historical event in a few words: La Noche Triste (The Night of Sorrows). A tragic moment for the Spanish during the conquest of Mexico in 1520. No more words are needed than the right ones, and Reverte achieves this in this little-known book.

A small gem very useful for curious readers and writers eager to learn.

Synopsis

What do you prefer: your life or the gold you've been fighting for so long? That was the dilemma faced by a group of Spaniards led by Hernán Cortés on a summer night in 1520, when they were attacked by the native Mexicans.
