Wuthering Heights (Special Pocket Edition)

Wuthering Heights (Special Pocket Edition)

Our review

What more can be said about Emily Brontë's great classic that hasn't already been said? It is a wild, dark, and deeply atmospheric work. Forget the sugary romances; the story of Heathcliff and Catherine Earnshaw in the desolate Yorkshire moors is pure passion, obsession, and revenge. An intense and visceral read that will captivate you.

We recommend this edition to approach this literary classic for the first time without spending too much money, or if you are one of those readers who prefer the convenience of a pocket-sized format. However, we also recommend the Alba publishing house version that we have on the website, if you attach great importance to having a great translation of the novel.

Synopsis

In the wild and gloomy moors of Yorkshire stands Wuthering Heights, home to the Earnshaw family. The arrival of Heathcliff, an orphan child of unknown origin brought by Mr. Earnshaw, will unleash a storm that will change everyone's destiny. Between Heathcliff and Catherine, his protector's daughter, a love as intense and profound as it is destructive will be born.

About the author

Emily Brontë (Thornton, 1818 - Haworth, 1848) was a British writer and one of the most fascinating figures in 19th-century literature. Sister of fellow writers Charlotte and Anne Brontë, she grew up in the Haworth rectory, an isolated environment surrounded by moors that would profoundly inspire her work.

She published "Wuthering Heights" in 1847 under the masculine pseudonym Ellis Bell. Although at the time the novel scandalized critics with its rawness and overflowing passion, over time it has been recognized as one of the absolute masterpieces of English literature. Emily died of tuberculosis at barely thirty years old, leaving behind this unique and immortal novel and a remarkable collection of poems.
